Let's be friends!
Hello, my name is Scott and I have AIDS. Whew! There I said it. It's been more than four years since I was lying in a hospital bed wondering what was going on
with me and why was I so sick when I was told that. Since then my life has been turned upside down, sideways, and then spun round and round. To say having
AIDS has been difficult is the understatement of my life. And I have had...at times...a very difficult life. But...it is a life...and I am alive...not dead yet. I hope that
when you read about me, and learn about HIV/AIDS, that you will want to be my friend. HIV and AIDS is one of the few diseases throughout history that comes with
more than just physical ailments, medicines, aches and pains, and endless doctor visits. Sadly, it also comes with discrimination, judgments ,and even hatred. I
have in some ways experienced all of these. I have lost my health ,my career, many friends, and even my wife of more than seven years (who remains negative
thank heaven) has left me.
It is my hope and goal to address the social stigma that is associated with AIDS. To let people know that those of us living with HIV/AIDS are normal people, more
importantly, normal people that need friends, and even love.... just like anyone else. So please come back and visit as I work to get the campaign going to make
some friends. Heaven knows I could use some, and so could all of us living with the disease.
How bout you? Wanna be friends?
Peace and love, Scott

Scott'sFriends Helps out the Inland AIDS Project at the Lily Tomlin Benefit
On Saturday March 22nd, 2008 Lily Tomlin came to Riverside California for a night of comedy
to benefit the Inland AIDS Project. I was very pleased and honored to be invited to help raise
awareness for HIV and sell ScottsFriends T-shirts at the event. The evening was a great
success for the Inland AIDS Project and was a lot of fun. I met with and talked lots of people
and got the word out for our campaign to raise awareness to help end social stigma associated
with having HIV and AIDS. I was also invited to meet Lily Tomlin after the show where I
presented her with a ScottsFriends T-shirt. Lily was very gracious with her time and I found
her to be a very warm and down to earth type of person. I will continue to work and represent
ScottsFriends to the best of my ability to further the cause of raising awareness of all the
issues surrounding HIV and AIDS. As part of the planning for the event I was interviewed by
Diane Sholley of The San Bernardino Daily Sun. I was also interviewed by the Riverside Press
Enterprise when I made my first donation to the Inland AIDS project. Thanks to everyone that
has supported ScottsFriends with the purchase of a T-shirt. Please tell your friends and family
to visit ScottsFriends.com for themselves. Click the links below to read the articles. Thanks
again to the Inland AIDS Project for Having me and to Lily Tomlin for her time and energy for
a great show. .....Your friend, Scott
